About SwapDoc
SwapDoc is a free, no-frills tool for converting documents between Microsoft Word and PDF. Whether you need to turn a finished Word document into a tidy PDF for sharing, or pull a PDF back into an editable Word file, SwapDoc does it in your browser in a few seconds — no account, no software to install, and no watermarks added to your files.
It was built for the everyday moment when you have one document in the wrong format and just need it converted quickly. The conversion runs on LibreOffice, the same open-source engine trusted by millions, so formatting, fonts, and layout are preserved as faithfully as possible.
How it works

click to browse. Files up to 25 MB are supported.
We convert it. SwapDoc detects the format and converts Word to PDF, or PDF back to an editable Word document, automatically.
Download & done. Your converted file downloads straight away, and the original is deleted from our server the moment the download finishes.
Your privacy comes first
We know documents can be personal or confidential, so SwapDoc is built to hold onto nothing. Files are processed only to perform the conversion you asked for, then deleted immediately afterwards — we never read, store, share, or analyse their contents. - What happens to my files?
- They're deleted from our server as soon as your download completes, and a background process clears any leftovers shortly after. We keep no copies.
- Which formats are supported?
- Word to PDF (
.docxand.doc) and PDF to Word (.pdfto.docx). - Why did my scanned PDF not convert into editable text?
- Scanned PDFs are images of text rather than real text, so they can't be reflowed into an editable Word document without optical character recognition (OCR), which SwapDoc doesn't currently perform.
- Is there a file size limit?
- Yes, uploads are capped at 25 MB per file to keep conversions fast for everyone.
